Dads, vlogging, and family life

The Woodhouse Life, youtube sensation
The Woodhouse Life is a you tube hit that takes a look at the lives of the Woodhouse Family

We had a visit this week from Luke Woodhouse, one of the country’s most popular daddy vloggers. Being a top vlogger means Luke gets to post a video diary every day featuring the ups and downs of family life. The Woodhouse Life, features over 1000 vlog posts on their Youtube Chanel and they have an ever growing online following.

Fathers Day Shopping

Its great to see customers enjoying having a look around our shop and Luke and Fiona certainly spent quite a bit of time having a good look as it was their first visit. We rather suspect it probably won’t be their last.  Even baby Ace, was taking it all in as they quite literally checked everything out. Fiona wanted to get Luke a present for their new home office and boy was that a tough decision.

After lots of deliberating, Luke chose one of our great mini neon cactus desk lights. Of course this is a perfect choice, and bang on trend, for any home office, man cave or daddy den.  In fact every vlogger should have one on their desk.

We loved having Luke and Fiona stop by and because they spend so much time focusing on their kids we decided to extend an invitation for them to come along to our our next gallery launch event in the summer. We cant wait!

Around in the 80’s? Then see what Dropscotch have to offer

Prince T-shirt
Beautiful in its simplicity. The purple and white design is a true 80’s inspiration

Everyone has certain songs that mean something to them from whilst they were growing up. I know that for me hearing Frankie’s Two Tribes takes me straight back to 1984 and Harveys nightclub on the seafront at Morecambe.

Of course you don’t need to have been born in the 60’s or 70’s to be a fan of 80’s pop culture. Popularity of festivals like Rewind span across generations. So we were really pleased that Dropscotch, a localy based design brand, have chosen Inspire Gifts & Gallery to be their local retailer of retro inspired T’s. Because of the originality of their 80’s inspired designs Dropscotch have built a cult following that you can check out for yourself on Instagram.

Dropscotch T-shrts now available

We currently stock two of their high quality t-shirts which are made from 100% ringspun cotton and which are hand screen printed. All our t-shirts come from fairwear.org certified suppliers, so you know they are ethically sourced too. Not only do you get a cool design you are getting quality which you usually only associate with on high end brands.

Sade or Prince?

Sade t-short - smooth operator
80’s inspired t-shirt on 100% ring spun cotton .

Getting the size right isn’t a problem because both designs are available in s, m, l and xl sizing. The Prince design t-shirt features a purple and white graphic which is unmistakably “Prince”. Dropscotch have chosen a white T for the Sade design which has a black, white and mint green graphic that incorporates four immediately identifiable words that feature on her 1984 classic hit, Smooth Operator.

We think that this combination of quality and design make these t-shirts designed to last, and also makes them destined to become collectors items in their own right. These short print run T’s are available to buy now in our online shop.

Inspire Gallery Launch Weekend

Driftwood sculpture from By The Bay
Driftwood sculpture by Lin Dean

It was a wonderful weekend at Inspire Gallery with our two day launch event for “The Bay and Beyond – An Exhibition“. Creating the event was a real labour of love for our artists as well as Graham and the team at Inspire Gifts & Gallery.

Family Friendly

Our exhibition artists, Lin and Graham Dean, have never held a joint exhibition before, and they were keen to make sure their love of Morecambe Bay could be felt by everyone who visited.  We worked with them to help create a family friendly event which took place over the Friday and Saturday. As our launch coincided with Dino Day II on the Friday we also thought it might be a bit more fun to have a sand pit installed. Needless to say, no matter how old, or young, our visitors on the day were a fun time was had by all.

The Haselgrave Room

We were also really excited to invite people into The Haselgrave Room for the first time to enjoy beautiful artwork in a stunning setting. As the Saturday launch event was a slightly more grown up affair we are still serving ice cream but the sandpit was removed to create a bit more space.

With over 120 visitors across the two days, and a total of 15 pieces sold it was a truly memorable occasion and a great way to launch our new exhibition space.

The Bay and Beyond – An Exhibition

The Bay and Beyond - An exhibition
Inspire Gallery exhibition by Graham and Lin Dean

At Inspire Gallery we couldn’t have wanted a better way to celebrate the launch our Lancaster gallery than by playing host to husband and wife artists, Lin & Graham Dean with their joint exhibition, The Bay and Beyond.

Our exhibition runs between 1st June and 31st July 2018 and it will feature a selection of their new work. Lin specialises in both pictures and sculptures made from driftwood, pebbles and sea glass. As well as landscapes Graham’s work also includes people and familiar landmarks around the area.

The Artists

Lin finds her inspiration from the shoreline of Morecambe Bay, which is only a few hundred yards from her home. Lin uses her seashore finds to create beautiful, and often delicate looking art work. Lin has caused an online sensation locally with demand running high both online and from her appearances at local fairs.

Graham has a deeply rooted love of landscape photography which has been inspired by his travels around the world. However, it is the stunning backdrop of the Lakeland hills, that help frame our view of the Bay from the Lancaster side, that never cease to inspire Graham’s photography. Graham has been using more experimental techniques lately and he will be exhibiting some of these at these at Inspire Gallery.

Why not check out more details of the event, including The Bay and Beyond preview and launch days, on our Facebook page.
